Pitfalls of Leasing

Leases are also a BAD deal for most merchants. Most of them last 48 months and have a buyout at the end of the term. So, let's say your lease payment was $29.99 per month (and you'll have to pay your state's sale tax on it each month!). You will pay $1,439.52 in the pure lease payment portion alone. Add your state sales tax (5-9%) and you'll pay and extra $2 to $3 per month. Then, at the end of the term, you'll have to pay the lease company a 10% buyout before the terminal is yours! The buyout is based on 10% of your total monthly payments over 48 months. In our example above, you'd owe $143.95 as a buyout. Your buyout amount is almost as much as our wholesale cost!
